Dr Philip Holmes has specific interests in advanced restorative dentistry and dental implants. Since commencing his private practice, he has gained a reputation for providing high quality care to his patients.

Phil graduated from the University of Otago in 2004 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He completed a Masters degree in advanced restorative dentistry and dental implantology at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London in 2010 (awarded distinction and highest performing student in his year group). Phil returned home to Tauranga in 2011 to establish his dental practice.

In 2025, Phil reached his long term goal, establishing Holmes Dental in Mount Maunganui.

Dr Fiona Paterson has an engaging personality and quickly builds a natural rapport with her patients. Fi commenced practice in Tauranga in 2011 with her own successful dental practice Gardens Dental, before joining the newly established Holmes Dental team.

Fi is an outstanding communicator aiming to provide comfortable treatment to the highest clinical and ethical standards. She is committed to the long-term dental health of you and your family.

Dr Angus Colquhoun is a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He brings a wealth of expertise from both hospital and private practice settings to Holmes Dental.

Angus is trained in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery receiving prizes from both the University of Dundee and the University of Otago. Angus gained his surgical fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Dental surgeons in 2005. He held a part time consultant position in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Waikato Hospital until 2020 including tenures as Head of Department and Director of Training.

Angus provides specialist oral surgery services at Holmes Dental, including wisdom tooth removal and dental implant surgery, which can be performed under intravenous sedation. Known for his calm, reassuring approach, he combines advanced surgical skill with genuine care for his patients.

Dr Ariana Horsley graduated from the University of Otago in 2017 and has been dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive dental care ever since. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has a particular interest in using orthodontic aligners for aesthetic improvements. 

Known for her approachable, friendly manner, Ariana values clear communication and genuinely enjoys getting to know her patients. She aims to create a relaxed, positive environment where people feel comfortable and confident under her care.

Sukhman Johal is our wonderful dental hygienist she has a gentle touch and a passion for preventive care.

Sukhman graduated from the Auckland University of Technology in 2022 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health.

Sukhman aims to make every appointment a positive experience. Her focus is on helping patients keep their teeth and gums healthy for life combining thorough, professional treatment with practical advice tailored to each individual. Patients love her friendly manner and the way she takes the time to ensure they feel comfortable during their dental hygiene visits.
